Heaven is often spoken about as if it were a place, and exists somewhere above the sky. Traditionally understood as the place where God lives, heaven is beyond our space-time universe. It is more a kind of existence, rather than a specific place or space.
The sign reflects the way we usually refer to heaven as being “up there” or “above”. This imagery comes from a time before modern science, when people believed that the world was three-tiered: heaven above, earth in the middle, and an underworld below.
